Livestream of the Super ZZT world "Lost Forest" by Tim Sweeney (1992)
(Originally streamed October 14th, 2022)
The second of three official Super ZZT releases steps up its game by attempting to bring back the official ZZT worlds' style of non-linearity. Save the forest from lumberjacks and... squid? by collecting the stones of power to revive and protect the forest once more.
The aesthetic on this one is improved quite a bit from Proving Grounds. Tim makes a good forest.
There are also a lot more puzzles! Most are small slider puzzles that can fit into Super ZZT"s limited viewport. "The Zap Factory" stands out as both good and bad. The puzzle of positioning arrows to shoot bullets at breakable walls to obtain keys is a solid one, but there's a surprising amount of instances where you'll realize you need yet more arrows and to repeat essentially the same shot multiple times, constantly running back to the start to fire the next one after repositioning an arrow.
The finale is probably the most iconic moment in Super ZZT's saga with the player facing off against a giant purple land squid, shooting, bombing, and attacking the creature with a missile.
