♦ (1:38) "The Land of Traseel" by Graham Peet (2001) [https://museumofzzt.com/file/view/gptraseel/]
Finally finishing up Traseel, with a lot of unintentional fast travel to avoid walking across a pretty much empty overworld. Dressing up as a guard, and sneaking in to Rork's city of Mettalik. There's quite the hilarious boss fight where the player must use bombs to blow up all the walls of Rork's castle and his entire army.
Victory is only so sweet though, as we were unable to find and rescue our beloved, leading to a search through the game's code to figure out what we missed. Turns out some of this game's content is just outright inaccessible, though I'm still unsure if that includes the rescue. Too many flag and key woes make this one a bit too hard to quickly gauge what is and isn't possible.
Also it turns out I missed a single overworld screen which has an ANCIENT UNDERGROUND CITY below it.
♦ (1:01:14) "Enigma Games Offices" by No1Dive (1998) [https://museumofzzt.com/file/view/office/]
We then take a quick tour of the Eniga Games Offices, a ZZT company whose name was unfamiliar to me, but later that year would be the company under which War-Torn was published. For now, the company is content to just play a lot of Quake, drink some Josta, and talk about their epic RPGs in the works. It's a great time capsule of the time for both ZZT and gaming in general.
There's also a weird not-quite-apology/rant about some intercompany drama! Goodbye Mike. I'm sorry it didn't work out.
Also hello Mike, I think you're actually a patron?
