Secret MZX Project Delayed One More Time

Well, I've worked day and night this summer. Creating a nice little MZX game
that I scheduled it to be released during the month of April. Though I had no
idea that I only just tapped the surface of what MZX can do. With school work
to complete and the limited time alotted on the Family computer, the game is
delayed. Summer is here, oops! Time for a vacation. California for 3 weeks.
Now I'm back. I'm still working on it. Then bang! Another vacation for
about a week. I come back from that. Well, actually before that we got a new
computer and the family computer is now my computer which is in my room.
I'm sharing my brother's phone line. I then scheduled it for this issue which
was formly comming in August 15th. Now formly scheduled for September 1st.
Now, it is to be delayed one more time. This time the release date will not
be announced until the product is finished. Until then I'm still attempting
to get a Megazeux File Library on AOL. (ABLO DI: I know you got us a seprate
forum. Though I see Megazeux games in the Adventure File Library. I was
going to continue my efforts.) Well, that's it for me.
The Critic Corner

Okay, what's the deal!? What's happening to ZZT Online gaming. Now It's just
attracting first time programmers who just throw up a title and some yellow in
it and upload. These people are lazy. I can't take everything away from them
they keep us in business. Let's take a look at some shall we:
GAME: The Simpsons
NAME/COMPANY: Unknown
At first I though the author of the game reuploaded this since It's at the
bottom of the list by now. I was wrong. Using the old MSDOS-Shell's Task
Switcher I'm attempting to type this and play this game switching back and
forth. (Well that doesn't work I'll just play it then I'll open and type
this.) You call this a menu Screen? "Which character would you like to see
first?" They show a list of characters and a whole bunch of south board
accesses. You see all of them on the next board. The rest of the boards are
just worthless, I guess the author was too ashamed to put his name or company
in the game. NEXT!!!!
GAME: Tommy Vs. Goldar
NAME/COMPANY: Unknown
ACK! Another Power Ranger game. I admit. I like Power Rangers. But, most
of them online are real disappointing. This one is no different. Graphics
Sux!! Yea. A nice picture of Goldar when he's grown, a big ol' happy face
that covers 90% of the screen. The way he did the TigerZord stinks
incredibly. Again Goldar covers 90% of the screen. The TigerZord is as big
as the player is. No wonder It lost. Then Zordon attemps the bring back the
.....DRAGONZORD!!!??? I've seen enough.
GAME: Parker World
NAME/COMPANY: Parker Marcotte
Hmmmm.... Let me see. You know what It remindes me of? Me walking around the
house looking for something to eat and then going back to the computer and
program, THE END. That's how long this game is or where I've gone so far.
This person desprately wanted this "thing" to be uploaded. Lazy programmers
now-a-days will upload garbage so they can appear in the library. There
should be a seal of quality from AOL but then we wouldn't have a library would
we?
GAME: Yoshi 4
NAME/COMPANY: Chris Kohler of Yoshisoft/Hyperware
AHH!! MUCH BETTER!!! A game that's very cool and funny. We need more games
like these online. You play as Yoshi's Great Great........Grandfather in the
old west. All the characters are still in. It plays great. And yet I can
say with confidence, "I can't wait to play Yoshi 4 Part 2: Time Warp".
GAME: The Fred Series Gold & Sivion V2.00g
NAME/COMPANY: FILTERWARE put this together.
Huh? Whadaya' know. It's those knarly games that were hits before they
became upgrades. Another thing that might be worth downloading again if you
don't have the first version or even if you do. HUGE files indeed!
I'm surprised at Fred 2. It's almost a whopping 400k ZZT game!!! Sivion
isn't behind at an incredible 350k. Unbelievable!!! What did they cram in
these games???
Speaking of huge games. There's one that's eating up a lot of space and most
of the game you can't play maybe unless you use hex edit to unlock the game.
Shadow of Darkness, not a bad title screen. I only found two playable boards
with the help of the ZAP function. AOL should have dumped this game. It
might be good if that person would have just organized it. There is more to
this game than meets the eye.

When the first board of this game was yellow-bordered, I
almost gave up hope on Y-S. But, I am always determined to
play through a crappy game before I delete it (especially
when it's for review) and I stuck with it. After getting off
of the actually good first board, I found Y-S to be one of
the most enjoyable games I have played in a long time.
The whole thing is right on the mark. There are no other
yellow-laced screens and the graphic quality, while no Zap
Zak or Emanon, is right up there. There is a lot of inane
humor in this game, but rather than being Island Of Jerks
type wierd stuff, it isn't funny wierd, it's silly, and it
makes perfect sense. Actually, there is a lot of stuff in
here that sems like it was taken from Island Of Jerks. And
the best part is, a Super ZZT sequel is already on the way.
The game play is innovative and unique. All in all it really
comes together as a GAME, not a piece of crap.
Summary: I am amazed that this game didn't come out of one
of the big development groups. Grab this right now off the
PC Games forum.
Rating: Excellent
Recommended: Of course!
FANTASTIC FOUR

FANTASTIC FOUR IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHY PEOPLE SHOULD KEEP
THEIR FIVE-YEAR OLDS AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER. ALL THROUGH
THIS INANE OUTHOUSE OF A GAME YOU ARE CONSTANTLY TOLD WHICH
MEMBER OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR YOU ARE PLAYING. YOU ARE TOLD
THIS IN ALL CAPS AND THERE ARE ACTUALLY NO SMALL LETTERS IN
THIS GAME WHICH GETS ANNOYING. EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK AS YOU
ARE WALKING THROUGH BOARD AFTER BOARD OF ABOUT 20 TIGERS AND
A ROW OF BOULDERS YOU SEE "YOU ARE MS. INVISIBLE" OR "YOU ARE
THING". SOMETIMES YOU EVEN SEE "YOU ARE DEAD" AS A ROW OF
GUNS TAKES YOU OUT. WHAT FUN. MY ADVICE TO THE AUTHOR, IF
HE IS OLD ENOUGH TO READ YET, IS TO TAKE THE FUCKING CAPS
LOCK OFF AND MAKE A REAL GAME.
SUMMARY: I AM HONESTLY SURPRISED THE EVAN DARROW DIDN'T MAKE
THIS.
RATING: EVAN DARROW

I had really high hopes for this game because of its original
plot (Heli the secari?) and inventive use of the green
scrolly thing on its title screen. Well, it's fun to sit
back and watch a title screen go by, but not a game. This
game was basically boring. The graphics were very dull and
washed-out and overall it wasn't very much fun to play.
Hello! These are supposed to be GAMES here people!
Summary: After playing Heli, it's safe to say that "secari"
must be Swedish for "boring".

Hm. Well, I thought something was familiiar about this game!
This is old! However, it was at the top of the list when I
did my usual random sampling for review, so I grabbed it.
Not only is Pressman old, but it's short! I was just playing
this for a while until I realized that I had won. The
graphics aren't bad, but they aren't great either. Final
verdict? Don't bother with it.
Summary: A pretty old game that is at the top of the list
for some reason. I don't really like it, it drags on and
suddenly it's over. Go with something better.
Rating: Okay

Rings Of Power

THIS IS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE GAMES THAT STARTS OUT IN ALL
CAPS BUT SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDdle Josh learns to hit the Caps
Lock key so the light is off. If nothing else, this game was
a learning experience, but then, why upload it?
In ROP you get to jaunce around a crappy little game looking
for some rings of power, or something. I never actually
found any and that teed me off because there are a lot of
problems with this game. Basically, don't get it.
Summary: This game is obviously the product of a "Take your
child to work" day.
Rating: Garbage

some hope for it to get better. We can only hope. This is
