Have another dozen. I must get the queue to stop hitting page three!
“Unfair!!” by Steven Backus (1996)
A game about killing Nazis! Careful though, sometimes you need to suppress your instincts and not immediately shoot them. (Because they will sound an alarm and you'll be caught. You're supposed to bash them on the head with a frying pan instead.)
“Destroy Barney III” by MechMerc (1995)
Hi! Welcome to Destroy Barney Three. This gmae leaves of fifty years after Destroy Barney Two, after the Great fire of the US, killing everyone in the country but you, who is now in one of London's hospitals, because you got a fourth-degree burn, scared biceps and triceps, and a open fracture in the foot. $Storyline Yesterday, while you were asleep during the operation, you faitly remember Barney and your great battles with him. Now, you set of to Japan to steal Mechagodzilla, and go into Barney lair, in which even you don't know where it is. But first, you have to escape from this hospital!
For real though, these Barney killing games always have the wildest writing.
“Dragon Hunt Modified” by ManaX (1996)
From the title you might think this is a world edited by somebody else that's the only copy available, but it's actually a revised edition by the game's author. Hunt down a dragon and save your village.
“Ikari Warriors Part One: Escape From The Jungle” by Danny Knapp (1995)
Lots to go over on this one! It's the first game in an Ikari Warriors inspired series that's unrelated to the other ZZT Ikari Warriors trilogy by SKC Soft. However, it definitely seems related to U.N. Commando Episode 1: Guerilla Warfare which predates this game by a few months. The title and opening lead one to believe this is going to be somebody just outright plagiarizing a game, but after a few boards things begin to deviate. It's still a simple run forward shooter that recycles enemies between boards so the two games will ultimately play very similar. I wonder if there was any drama over these two titles?
“Peter” by Nivek (1996)
I don't know who "Peter" is, but they're apparently Satan. What looks to start as a fight through hell instead turns into a fight through... "Micky Land", a parody of a well-known amusement park. (Take a guess which.)
And do take note of the game's author! Nivek made quite a few well respected titles in the later portion of the 90s. This is our earliest release by him yet!
“Peter (v1.3)” by Nivek (1997)
An... updated version of the previously published game. This looks to be very minor with the only visual changes being getting rid of yellow borders and a nicer title screen. At least I get an excuse to post more Micky Land.
“Faito Collection (April 1996)” by Micah Paul (1996)
Two games in one zip! They do not look like a lot of fun!
“Dark World” by DarkEagle8
The shaman of darkness has shrouded the planet in mist! There are some neat looking boards in this one, and the title screen has a lot going on as well. This might be one to take a look at.
“Land O' Fun” by Jon Peakman
So this is the game that I skipped publishing last time. It's a short adventure where you need to obtain seven keys to open the door to a dimensional portal where the game abruptly ends in a yellow-bordered room saying "Welcome to Swell Land! Now the real game starts!!"
On its own, that's nothing unique. It's just another An unfinished adventure.
“Joe Blow Socipoon (June 26th, 1996)” by froznfire (1996)
...but then we get to Joe Blow here. This is an earlier revision of an already archived game. It's first dozen boards... are almost identical to Land O' Fun. Joe Blow is actually finished though. The two files are credited to different authors (albeit one is a given name and one is an alias) which leads us to a unique mystery of wondering if this is the same author finishing and re-branding Land O' Fun, a bizarre attempt of thievery that builds on the original game and attempts to pass it off as something wholly original, or a fan of Land O' Fun opting to finish the game themselves and doing a horrible job of making it clear that it's unofficial!
