Now how am I supposed to clear out the queue if you all keep making new games!
I haven't even uploaded the Castle games from the last Sunday livestream yet! I have to do that after this so I can post the recording!
So accept this blend of old and new releases so as to not bury the new stuff so fast. But be warned, your time in the spotlight of the front page is limited. Sorry.
On the bright side, part of why there's so much old stuff is due to a recent donation by none other than the ZZTer formerly known as fatrat of Yindle fame. A collection of ZZT files from the late 90s has been submitted, and so we have a few goodies that have been uploaded from it since. This includes a copy of the original (I assume) release of Chickenwire, a comedy world with several revisions over the years that added/removed jokes and references to keep up with the times. Correction: Actually, none of the older worlds uploaded in this pack come from this collection, instead being more finds by The Mysterious KM. The unpublished older worlds in the queue as of writing are what comes from that collection.
Contents
“Calvin and Hobbes: Destroy the Gork!” by Lysander the Great (1995)
The first of three old Calvin and Hobbes games. It's rough, the characters are ambiguous, and I'm not entirely sure Hobbes is even around, but it's here to enjoy now!
“The Adventures of Calvin + Hobbes: Part One” by Mike Fennell (1996)
A remake and/or ripoff of the previous Calvin game. Perhaps the same author using a different name. Perhaps not.
“Calvin and Hobbes in: Seasons Come and Gone Part 1” by Reddragon250
A more ambitious Calvin game in which you must spend the entire year having fun doing things like going to the pool, attacking Susie with water balloons, and going on a ride in your wagon. An eerily empty neighborhood awaits!
“Sombrero (Demo)” by Dark FLR (1998)
A demo of a released game. Sombrero challenges players to throw a sombrero back and forth with an opponent and is actually similar in concept (if not design or execution) to Windjammers of all things.
“ChickenWire v1.0” by Zenith Nadir (1999)
The original chicken- sandwich wire. A comedy game filled with puns and absurdist humor. May or may not have aged well. I have yet to delve into it.
“La Vie Moderne de III + I : IL ÉTAIT TROIS FOIS” by Agent Orange (2022)
Described as a "mockbuster" from the La Vie series. It certianly feels authentic enough...
“Argue with a teacher simulator” by itsmehere (2022)
Exactly what it says on the tin. You can't win, but you sure can try.
“Brawlers Demo (Restored)” by Bob Pragt, Evan Darrow, kristomu, PogeSoft (2022)
I'm sorry, there's a lost Evan Darrow world? Apparently one was found in corrupt form, and a group of ZZTers have decided to recover what they could from it, resulting in the rarely seen "Fighting" genre getting used for once.
