Power through that queue. A return to a slapdash assortment of various worlds, starting with a new release uploaded just a few days ago.
“Hurt” by Anonymous (2021)
Sometimes you just want to screech at the world until your throat hurts. Not recommended if you have/had problems with depression, burnout and low self-worth.
Well here's a surprise. A short new release by an author who wishes to remain anonymous! You do like gems right? And you're thankful for them of course?
“The Dragon Slayer (Restored)” (1996)
A repaired version of a previously corrupt file. Rescue a sick monkey by getting them a special fruit... which is a banana. Then you receive the "dragonbuster gun". Alright.
“Mega-World” by John Harger (1992)
You are the king of the Mega Castle. You have had a child since the last game. It is a daughter. She was kidnapped by a man named Blazer(Formerly Admiral Blazer who now owns one of the two Destroyer 2073 space ships.) who has taken her away from Mega World to the planet Defcon, Nuclear Man's base. You must find the castle with the Federation Starship in it and travel to the planet.
This mega game sounds simply epic.
“Channuka” (1995)
This is the probably the only Channuka game ever programmed for ZZT. If you like it, tell me, and I'll upload it.
Fight mutant driedels, open gifts from obsure relatives, learn some Yiddish, but watch out for grandma's killer matzoh balls in this single board game.
“Sports World V.R.” (1997)
This feels like an 8 year old designing their ideal birthday party. Head on down to Sports World where they've got bowling, golf, lazer tron and more!
“Bearing An Hourglass” by David G. Syas (1996)
Read the title screen on this one?
“Scott's Town” by Scott Howard
A game about destroying all the buildings and people in town with your "vaporizing gun" and bombs. The framing of the player having "cracked" makes this one feel not all that palatable today.
“Monkey Man” by Gabriel Rocklin, Sarah
A non-linear action game with a fun starting map, and some pretty barebones looking action boards.
“ZZT Casino” by TheDaveC
A simple casino game that mostly relies on objects checking if they're blocked in random directions. I was curious about how the roulette game worked and the answer is: the honor system. I love it.
“City of the Stupid 2 (Demo)” by Bongo79 (1997)
A demo for a game that never happened! Bongo's City of the Stupid is a title that you'd hear about in the late 90s, so I suspect if you have fond memories of it that it'd be worth checking this short demo out to see what could have been.
“Josh's World” by Lmjmajl (1996)
A first ZZT that ticks all the boxes. It looks to be a recreation of the author's house and family including a pet snake! You can also "play" Island of the Jerks and "get pumped" after beating it for 30 health!
“Twisted ZZT Characters” by ZPlayer (1996)
And finally, we end with a rare ASCII chart utility that's intended to be played. I swear I've seen this one used in a game before...
