A new release by a new author created for the Trans Representation Jam!
Repent from the ways of BOY KNIGHT and transform yourself for the better to become a GIRL PALADIN. To do so, you must climb to the peak of MOUNT GIRL and claim the AZURE STONES OF H'RT! It won't be easy! The path ahead is filled with BOY DEMONS and BOY TRAPS. And to top it all off, you must do battle with the wicked GUYSMIER as well!
GIRL QUEST is a cute first-time adventure playing mostly around with built-in enemies and puzzle pieces. The game features a number of short branching paths that let you explore things in a more open manner similar to something like Town, while being focused on moving you forward overall compared to the more sprawling nature of the original worlds. It's quick and breezy with a good sense of humor both in-universe and in the form of meta-commentary about making a ZZT game written in scrolls/on the walls of certain screen.
Charbomber does a nice job of creating interesting board layouts and some solid work at implementing little details. Switches switch, levers pull with satisfying clicks, and the environments depict distinct biomes as well as some cool looking more abstract designs. There's a clever mechanic with yellow keys where you can open treasure rooms to pick a reward of health, ammo, or torches that you want in that moment. These keys are also sometimes necessary to obtain red keys used for game progression, which sounds like a soft-lock waiting to happen, but the keys can also be purchased from a shop as well making it incredibly unlikely to actually get stuck.

A few minor bugs are encountered, though nothing game-breaking (and these should be fixed in the latest upload).
