Repeatedly stressing that no, this is not a fangame based on the 80s TV show. This is Macgyver ZZT, an action-puzzle game named for the show as you'll have to escape deadly situations using only your wits. No guns allowed.

This one had the misfortune of coming out in an era when famously, "ZZTers don't ZZT anymore", and seems to have just been completely overlooked in its time. Which is a shame, because this is a hair-pullingly difficult puzzle game filled with novel concepts.

The game is divided into groups of single screen levels, four to a set, where players are given a few hundred health and then dared to survive to the end. The stages are broken up into four difficulties, and not every set needs to be finished to reach the next section of the game where bonus challenges and final sets of levels await. This is definitely for the best as even the easiest levels can get pretty demanding of players!

To aid players, there's a hint screen that acts as an overview of all the unique objects used to make the puzzles. ...Stationary guns, deflectors, enemy commandos, crushers, rolling boulders, bomb dropping droids, you name it! Plus color coding to indicate whether enemies are destroyed by bullets, bombs, or nothing at all.

The puzzles are very much designed around interesting setups of these components, demanding high precision and planning out your moves in advance. It's definitely one of the more difficult ZZT games I've played, and one that I feel would be a little more accommodating had it been released in a more recent era. Mistakes can cost huge chunks of health and often lead to dying regardless of how much you started with. Trial and error is a major part of the game which can definitely turn people away, as you'll constantly be reloading saves trying to dodge enemies or get your timing right with other obstacles. As a stream game, it gets a bit repetitive, but if you're the type looking for a challenge, Macgyver ZZT will deliver!
