• (3:36) “Bomb With Me”
The third and last of the scheduled 2.4 Hour Jams hosted by WiL and Kkairos. With a topic of "Tick... Tick... Boom!", it's no surprise that bombs featured prominently.
Thanks to the pre-release of the topic, I was able to do some experimenting early to see if my idea of a re-lightable bomb would be feasible, and indeed it was! Thanks to a glitch known as "The Lion, The Switch, and the Wardrobe" (https://museumofzzt.com/article/view/664/glitch-investigation-the-lion-the-switch-and-the-wardrobe/) it's possible to get a bomb itself to run code, using #char to manually set the same parameter used for the current fuse value.
So, I made a little game about pushing a bomb onto fakes to re-light the fuse in order to make it last long enough to reach a bombable target at the end of each board.
Time management went pretty well. Though there was a nasty oversight in the code that I didn't have time to fix which makes it possible to push the bomb onto a fake and not get a reset (oops). But I was able to come up with some simple level ideas and then even had a few minutes to spruce up the graphics a very modest amount in the end.
Overall, I'm happy with what I made given the time limit, though I do wish I had the confidence to make some actual puzzles instead of just obstacle courses. Kaddar's own entry "BombPT" uses Weave to create a similar gameplay mechanic (without dark magics) and has some actual _puzzles_.
Good jam would jam again.
