Coming to an end of an era as the Wildcard streams draw to a close. (Kind of.)
We return to the final few levels of Servo, the well-crafted Lemmings-esque puzzle game by Graham Peet. For its finale, you can see a bit of strain in level design. We run into a level that looks to be unwinnable (but please let me know if that's not the case!) and a few that are solved a bit too easily. Though those could easily have been renumbered and fit in just fine. Not a fan of the level with invisible falling platforms that you just have to map by trial and error though.
While its last few levels may not reach the high marks of some previous ones, the overall game was still phenomenal and I'm still desperately wishing it had gotten linked up properly and given a release back in 1996. It would have had a huge impact on the later Lemmings-likes and would likely be the definitive game of the genre.
Then we head to Zoratrix, a very short game where I decided to just go for it, after debating whether I should stream it or not. Not for unpleasant content, but because I don't know Portuguese! I figured we'd be able to piece things together enough. I understand "telefone"! I can touch a green club and figure out "simples avore"! I get when you're forced through a "portal dimensional". It's fun to see how much can still be comprehended, but even as simple a game like this left me very confused as to what I was doing, which is entirely on me. You wind up in an alternate version of the restaurant you were just in and then the game stops as it's not exactly finished either.
This next week we'll be shifting gears to 24 Hours of ZZT games, starting with some that were recovered and part of this unpreserved queue, but the Wildcard title will likely be taking a break for a bit!
