A brand new release for the year's end from WiL. Cold wound up being one of the finest games of the year, a very unique experience with a strong hook and very high stakes.
Adapted from "Alone: The Classic Polar Expedition", players volunteer themselves for extreme conditions, spending a month in a tiny cabin traveling to nearby weather stations to record data and observe rare meteorological phenomena. Each day you are tasked with putting on your suit, braving the cold, and making it back to your warm cabin safely, provided your furnace still has enough fuel that is.
But the dangers of this weather soon come into play. A bad step through some ice will leave you numb at best, and every moment spent outside will lead to worse and worse physical health. Slower movements. Difficulties recording data. Losing your sight entirely. All these perils and more await you.
A challenging game about finding safe routes through extreme conditions. Each day is punctuated by personal diary entries depicting your struggles while a second narrator comments on them in the past tense, suggesting that this expedition has long since happened, and your fate has long been sealed.
