♦ Livestream of messing around with Weave and Loom to get a better idea of how it all works! ♦
Weave has remained a big blind spot for me with ZZT in recent years, and I figured now is as good a time as any to actually try and learn what it's like to make a game in it. Even if you're only interested in vanilla-style experiences, Weave's niceties seem like getting over that first bump in the road is well worth the effort as far as allowing you to create reusable code that doesn't need to be edited per-object when a change is made.
I focus on some simple mechanics for a stealth game, taking inspiration from Operation: OBRIAN, a game with some cool ideas for gameplay that suffers from a botched execution (love to be spotted by security cameras through walls). A basic on/off camera obstacle is created, followed by figuring out what it would take to allow what room on a board players are currently in in order to create a scanner enemy that can detect players where they aren't supposed to be and alert things accordingly.
Expect more in the near future! But no promises that I'm going to turn all this into an actual game.
