The thrilling finale!
For real though. Even though things get kind of weird with Matt traveling back in time, this game's finale is incredibly well done for a ZZT game from nearly 25 years ago.
A run in with the mayor of Ganon leads to Matt saying no more, killing him despite his continued pleas that he is not a bad guy at all. Matt takes the moral high ground, despite having to use a legendary disintegration gun to painfully kill a guard to get to the king's castle just seconds beforehand.
This leads to a final confrontation with the true villain that's been searching for the gun to take over the island and his accomplice, Matt's own father.
It's an unexpected twist, but Leamas does a fantastic job tying everything together here. The writing absolutely carries this game's final chapter, making it one of the best examples of storytelling in ZZT from the era. If the second chapter reminded me why I felt LOME would be a good game to stream, the finale reminded me why I feel like this is one of ZZT's best worlds.
Afterwards, we check out a separate LOME Intro world, released before the game to provide a brief look at the characters and a few in-development boards of the island to get players excited for the full release.
