DAVESAST ("Oil") - 6 - Pretty. Good attempt at a story with an ecological bent, and a fun minigame. Unfortunately it wasn't finished. DISASTER ("Disaster") - 1.5 - A short story describing how the author learned about ZZT and his inability to finish anything. Very little here, and the author clearly doesn't feel great about it. ZZT could be harsh for those who didn't feel they had the perseverance and focus to finish a project. ERN56 ("Fallout") - 7 - Good graphics. Simple gameplay--picking up items to use in obvious places, and a fight where choices don't really seem to matter. There was a bug(?) where upon picking up food, movement becomes very slow while on that screen. I restarted a few times to try to determine whether this was an emulator issue. KEWLIEZ ("THE KRUSHING DISASTER ELITE EDITION") - 1 - The only interactivity is fighting built-in bears. There's a good drawing of a monster, but it's otherwise pretty slapdash. Full of the all-caps silly text that was popular at the time, as well as in-jokes that are incomprehensible fifteen years after. OOFAUT03 ("Paper Wisdom") - 4 - Tells a very gross and disjointed story--the sort of thing a teenager would make up under pressure. If it had more focus and wasn't so puerile, I would have ranked it higher. The main character's name changes without notice after landing on the moon. SIDDIS ("Sid Disaster") - 4.5 - Not really sure what's going on here. A volcano and a plane crash, followed by an absolutely amazing drawing of a horse (possibly done before the 24 hours?), followed by the same volcano and plane, but with a rainbow. SILICATE ("Silicate") - 7 - Feels the most like an actual game, but it's not completed. Also the only one that required cheating--the sentries shooting bullets are unfairly placed, and lead to massive slowdown on the electrical system board. Key collection is cliche, although it fits in a game with a Doom-like plot. The exposition gives a good sense of place and motivation, although like usual this begins with a message showing a lack of self-confidence in the artistic choices. Had a skill-level select system, but unclear whether that did anything. SMITH24 ("Virus") - 5.5 - Simple but impressive title screen art. Needed to be hacked to actually start on the first board. A simple horror/zombie game, with good attention to detail. The choice of making the first protagonist a victim was intriguing. "Blackened skin" is not a good choice of words. Ranking: KEWLIEZ 1 DISASTER 1.5 OOFAUT03 4 SIDDIS 4.5 SMITH24 5.5 DAVESAST 6 SILICATE 7 ERN56 7
