Celebrating May-gaZeux by playing some ZZT!
Zeuxer Noah brings us his long awaited and highly secretive first foray into ZZT with Nummy Dummy Bunchkin Boy! Wake up and- don't save the world actually. NDBB lives in a strange land in some ways similar to, but in many ways quite different from our own. They have a chill life with a society structured around making sure people have what they need to survive, as well as a thriving opera culture. Not everyone is as nice as you might hope though. Your neighbor is convinced the president is a Ruffian-person in disguise for one. Maybe give him a wide berth.
This strange journey which ZZTifies many of the design staples of Noah's own MZX worlds. Unusual characters (as in ASCII chars) sprawl all over the place, equally likely to be a border or just an odd pile to swerve around. Subtle twitches of animation always seem to occur just barely in the corner of one's eye, and Noah's musical skills even survive the bit crushing oppression that is PC speaker tunes. It's a short journey, but a nice place to visit for sure.
Give this one a shot, and contemplate what kind of life you may be asked to give up in the name of exploration. Oh, and break a leg at the opera. (Do they say that for operas?)
Since NDBB was a bit short to make it a solo stream, our unplanned extra game for the stream is a return to KKairo's Ruin Diver III, a procedurlly generated dungeon dive to find the book which contains the meaning of life at the bottom. As it did last time I played it, it utterly destroys me again and again. Even when I can fly!!!! Expect this one to show up in future streams this month that are running a little short.
