Getting through a few more Oktrollberfest games!
Starting with Samantha's Sister Wants a Bottle of Milk etc. etc. A cute game about being a child and dealing with an infant when your parents are too conked out to wake up. Your infant sister is crying (and it will not stop until you complete the game). A young Samantha needs to get formula preprared, which is easier said than done thanks to a number of dirty dishes and barely being tall enough to reach the kitchen countertops, to say nothing of the upper cabinets where a stepladder is required. Root around in the kitchen finding and mixing a pitcher of formula as you struggle to remember which cabinet has what item as you need it. A boulder can be pushed around to reach into the upper cabinents as well, making for a short game about finding things.
The crying sound is thankfully less shrill than it could have been, but boy can that kid still wail.
This one is extra sweet as RT's submission to the contest was done more in a day than in a month, thanks to actually becoming a new parent in October. With just a fraction of the time available, RT still does a wonderful job with the game's art, and found a fun way to turn reality into a troll game.
Then it's off to "Wrong", a very RNG-heavy game where things things to be constantly changing on you. Didn't that beggar ask for a torch? Wasn't that door yellow? The fun is in discovering the rules of the game, identifying these inconsistencies, and finding ways to make them consistent again. And it turns out there's a lot of game here! Depending on which roads you travel, you get some very different experiences which could lead you to a really nice snow falling animation as you help patch a hole in a hovel so its occupants (one of whom may have been found in a garbage can) can be kept warm, or escape from a hungry Labubu, or explore a secret basement cavern beneath your home.
And it encourages my bullshit habit of trying to cheekily break things that don't matter by having it actually matter? Take that, wizard!
Finally, the mysterious "pleas play", a browser exclusive game that starts off just like ZZT before things get a little weird. Just finding your way to the actual game is a bit of a puzzle itself, trying to get you to notice small details and consider your options.
Once you get there, you're guessing words from a ZZT-themed list, and wow I'm bad at it. House of Bears? Really??
